Jason slips back in the apartment, fliches at the look Lil gives him and heads for his bedroom.

He stands in the doorway, staring at the floor.

"How pissed will you be if I apologize again?"

Sitting on the edge of the bed, drenched. Cellphone in his hand, the note wrapped around it. The other hand laid against the sheet, blood seeping from his palm, from between clenched fingers, onto the bed.

Eyes down, not even raising his head.

"Not sure I could be more pissed than I am now, Jason."

Tones even, steady, flat.

Jason tenses at seeing the blood, shaking a bit at the angry vibes in the room.

"I couldn't let you go."

"And how did you think I felt? I still feel? I woke up and you were gone and...'

Uncurling his bloody hand, tugging the paper free from the phone.

"Do you really? Or was it like saying goodbye? You figured you were going to die so you might as well say it?'

Not saying what. Figuring he has no need to as he raises those dark eyes. Not shifted. Just Gabriel. Holding up that note. Four words. Two important.

Stares at the note, not blinking.

"yes."

"Which?"

Suddenly on his feet, the charm about his neck lending him a speed, a grace, he hadn't had on his own. Standing before Jason, eyes narrowed.

"Yes, you do love me? Or yes, you said it to say goodbye? To give me that and yer memory?"

Steps back, startled. Looks up at Gabriel, not frightened, but wary.

"I meant all of it."

Grabbing Jason by the throat, fingers tight but not hard. Hand high, holding his chin up to meet those eyes.

"How can I trust you now, Jason? Tell me? Please? Because I can say it. I love you. And you can do with that what you want. You can laugh, you can mock me. You can tell me how I'm wrong and don't know ya and all that crap I'm sure is runnin' through yer head."

Releasing him as suddenly, stepping back with a growl.

"But I do. And I woke up to know you'd drugged me to turn yerself over to her. I woke up sure you were dead... that you had been dinner as I had... that I loved a dead man. Happy?"

Doesn't move, barely breathes, just looks at Gabriel. When he's released, he starts to reach for Gabriel but stops and flinches at the growl.

The shaking starts again and he wraps his arms around himself.

"I... I don't know. Not happy, sorry. Fuck."

He drops to his knees and looks at the floor.

Voice heavy with fright and sadness when he speaks again. "Sorry Alpha, forgive me? Please?"

"Tell me why?'

Closing his eyes, fighting so many desires and instincts.

"Why did you do it? Why destroy whatever this is...' Avoiding those words now, eyes darting away as it comes to that. 'Why risk the pard. Yer life? Why not let me do it?'

But trembling, bloody fingers trace over Jason's hair, toying with a single strand.

Swallows and takes his time answering.

"Because they need you. I can't lead them, can barely take care of myself. You die, we die."

Trembles, fights not to lean into the touch.

"I couldn't let you go, I saw what she was going to do to you, couldn't let it happen."

Looks up at Gabriel, tears in his eyes.

"Don't... I CAN'T let that happen. It's bad enough in my nightmares."

It was the tears that did it. The tears that ate at his heart and left Gabriel cursing under his breath.

"I suck as alpha."

Sighing out the words as he slipped down onto one knee, pulling Jason closer.

"This isn't over. You lied to me. Deceived me. You went against my orders and made my word to you, my promise, a moot point."

Tugging softly on his hair, tilting his head back.

"As yer alpha? I have to punish you, Jason. I can't let you get away with shit like that."

Staring into those bright eyes, closing his own, unable to see those tears.

"As yer lover, I'm thankful yer home to me. Alive. In one piece. Still mine. I hope, at least. And as with so much between us, those words never were said.. unless you want it."

Watches as Gabriel kneels and leans against him.

Bites his lip at the mention of their promise and lifts his head at the tug. Resists the urge to whimper at the pain in Gabriel's eyes, and the mention of being punished.

"I understand."

When he sees Gabriel's eyes close, he drops his head and shivers.
"I am yours."

Wrapping his arms around his shoulders, hands cradling to the back of Jason's head as he holds him close, tight.

Bowing his head to rest his cheek atop Jason's head.

"If you ever, ever pull a stunt like that again? Raina will seem like sanctuary. Do you understand me? I am not even fucking close to kiddin'."

Slumping against him, relief and the last vestiges of the potion zapping his energy.

"Our bed's wet."

Wraps his arms around Gabriel and nods.

"I understand."

Chuckles and pulls away.

"We'll use Lil's. She probably asleep on the couch or at the bar anyway."

Looks Gabriel in the eyes.

"I do, you know. Love you."


((Go to bed!! *feels evil for keeping people up* XD ))

"So making Lee pay for that.

Grumbling, trying to hide the tears in his eyes, until those words. His mouth claiming Jason's, lingering in that kiss.

Everything else could wait. Raina. Lee. Even the pard and Jason's punishment. It could wait.

Moans into the kiss, closing his eyes and revelling in it. Finally, reluctantly pulls away.

"We both need sleep, sex is no fun if one of us passes out during it."

Laughs, tugging Jason to his feet and to Lil's room, going by scent.

"Fine. You can wake me up in the morning then. In all the right ways, pup."
