Jason slips quietly into the bedroom and heads for bathroom, trying not to disturb Gabe. He tiredly pulls off his clothes, not caring where they fall, and then slips into the shower.

He stands out of the way of the stream until the room is filled with steam, then he ducks under the water. He braces his arms on the tile, resting his head on his arms as the nearly scalding water falls onto his back.

Almost exhausted, he just stands there.

He moved silently, barely making a sound as he followed the sounds that had woken him. Slinking into the bathroom, he slipped into the tub and wrapped his arms around Jason, head to his shoulder.

"You smell like Zane and blood and girl."

"Tam."

Relaxing, feeling calmer now with Gabe pressed against him, Jason lets one arm slip down to squeeze Gabe's hand.

"Pard's got a new kitty."

"If she takes,' he notes, kissing the line of Jason's spine between his shoulderblades. "Zane do alright? She handle it well?' Nuzzling now, calming while finding out the news.

"Clean bite, minimal bleeding. It should take." He murmurs softly, shrugging. "Both did good, no one freaked."

Slowly he turns, reaching up to move the showerhead so the water isn't pouring on them. "I feel so fucking... old. Cheated. I don't know."

Shifting back, letting Jason turn. Waiting, a brow arching. "You aren't old, love. You are just starting over. So young.' Kissing him tenderly.

"Why cheated? Talk to me, lover."

"Because they got to choose. Tam, Lil, Ray, Scud.. they don't have nightmares of being made."

Shrugging, he pulls Gabe closer, licking water from his shoulder. "As for old, I've been up since dawn yesterday chasing after you and Ella and now I'm wore out." Looking up at Gabe, laughter in his eyes. "I used to go days without sleep."

"New days, new pards. Better pards. The way we got it was shit. We got fucking cheated, you're right. But now? Now we make it better for the next generation. So when they go to make their first, they think like we did and not like Raina and Elizabeth."

Kissing Jason's temple, sighing. "Fathers now. And alphas. Takes a lot out of you."

"I know, just... Sometimes I wish, you know?"

He grins and kisses Gabe. "Maybe we need to start delegating, make the others start pulling their own weight and dealing with pard matters too."

Gabe is silent, pondering. "Which of them? Who gets responsibility? And whom do we count as pard? Sin and Em count?"

"Zane, Carrie, Jase. Those three. I mean, I trust the others, but they've got so much shit going on or are always off doing something. Zane and Jase understand what needs to be done. Carrie is used to it, and maybe it'll give her something else to do besides go insane."

He shrugs, smiling a bit. "I think you've already adopted Sin as pard. And Jase and Em are practically married, so yeah, she's pretty much pard."

"But there is a difference between being pard and having control within the pard. It's people we have to train that can take over if we get injured or if things go bad for you and I." Kissing Jason tenderly.

"I agree with your list. But for control, as much as I adore Sin and Em, I wouldn't put either in a position of power."

"No, not yet. Neither one are really stable with their powers yet."

He looks down at his fingers and makes a face, wiggling them. "I'm wrinkled before my time. Better put your old man to bed."

Reaching back, Gabe doesn't look away from Jason as he turns the water off. Grinning, he scoops him up and, cradling that lithe form to his own, carried his lover's nude body to the bed.

Laying him down, dripping, he curled up with Jason, kissing him lightly.

Grinning, pulling Gabe down onto him, Jason wraps his arms around his husband. "You get to change the sheets later."

Laughing, cradling Jason as close as he can. One leg around him, both arms, nuzzling against his shoulder. "Utterly worth it to be this close to you right now. Always need this."

Closes his eyes, letting Gabe warm him up. "Me too. Want to get as much of this in as I can before the big man comes knocking."

"Before who, what?" Nuzzling, eyes closing, distant and relaxed as he begins to drift out.

Almost asleep as well, he mumbles his reply sleepily. "I don't think anyone told Dante about Tam being bitten."

And with that Gabe was awake. And frozen.

"Oh, holy shit. Why? I mean, isn't that... Oh god, what was that girl thinking?"

He snuggles closer to Gabe, shrugging. "Maybe he just left while it was being done. Either way, we'll worry about it later."

"Yeah, later.' Oh yeah, when dante came busting down the front door, wanting to know what the fuck they'd let the pard do. Sighing, kissing Jason once more, holding him tight. Later. Don't think about it now. Later.
