Nearing midnight, Jason is curled up on one of the flat benches by the fire pit in the back yard. He can hear the pard in the woods, can hear the others moving around in the house. The moon had been up for over five hours, yet he hadn't shifted. The most he had been able to make it last time was three hours.
Clutching the thermos, he takes a sip of the hot chocolate, watching the path he could hear them all on. There was some sort of chase going on, but it sounded like play, not a hunt.
There was a dull ache throughout his body, the kind that settles in after extreme pain. It had taken a lot to keep from screaming, his palms were healing from where he had ripped them up with his nails.
Wincing, he curls up when a sharp spasm of pain runs through his body. He starts taking deep breaths, trying to stay calm through the pain. When it passes, he opens his eyes and takes a sip of the hot drink, trying to ignore the shaking of his hands.
He could do this. He -would- do this.

Moving closer, sitting beside Jason and kissing his cheek. "I love you."

His shift is quick and painful, yet he manages not to scream. Instead, he lays there at Gabe's feet, eyes closed and panting.
