Takes a bit to answer, when he does, his voice is very quiet.

"I'm scared, tired."

Asked softly, stroking his hair.

Starts shaking, closing his eyes.

"Losing."

Frowning, hand caressing down Jason's back.

"Yer winnin, kid. Raina's gone. Yer free. You have yer pard. Yer ahead of the game, pup."

Sighing, hugging him tightly.

"Didn't I tell ya? I might run my mouth but I ain't goin nowhere."

Sits up, staring at Gabriel.

"How the hell do you know? You don't know what's going to happen when Emma does whatever the hell she's going to do. I just..."

Trails off, still staring at Gabriel.

"Take em. The knives, the rifle. All of it. I don't give a damn what the fuck I see, how I feel... I can't kill myself. Trust me... I've fuckin tried."

Trembling, eyes closed tight.

"And I didn't have you the last time I tried. I... I can't fuckin leave you. I've tried.'

Laughs, sounding a bit hysterical

"I'm more worried about them breaking you."

Stares at Gabriel, a bit shocked.

"When?"

"It was... It was when things first seemed to be going from fucking to dating. When I realized it wasn't just heat and need and lust and that I was fallin for ya. Knowin I had made that promise and couldn't have ya and...'

Letting the words trail off, trying to figure the best way to say it.

"I... I went back to my St. Louis. Was gonna go back to my life. I stepped outta the nexus portal, felt my heart break and came back."


Biting at his lip, looking over Jason's shoulder.

"Alright. I can't promise that. I can't say it won't. But.. .I have ever reason in the world to survive it, pup. And I'm lookin at it.'

Eyes shifting, unable to stop his smile.

"And if that doesn't win me the cheesy award... But I mean every word of it."

Drops his head, staring at the bed, still shocked. Trying to get past the fact that Gabriel was going to leave without telling him.

"You were just going to leave..."

Looks up at him, biting his lip.

"You do?"

"Yeah. I was. I thought I had to. I thought I had no choice but to go. You said it was only fucking remember? I... I believed that and so...'

Sighing, reaching for Jason once more but leaving it up to him to move closer.

"But I came back. I came back because I couldn't be without you. I need you, Jason. It's more than love. I need you.'

Sits there, holding onto Gabriel's hand.

"...need you too."

"It feels like another lifetime, Jason. Lame as that sounds. Before us. Before we were... this. Boyfriends? Lovers? I don't even know what to call it. Just... us."

Tugging on Jason's hand, pulling him closer.

"Even if I fuckin' pass out, curl up in a damn ball and cry? I will fuckin crawl on my hands and knees to come home to you. I promise."

"...have someone call me? I'll come and get you."

Looking rather sheepish, apparently bothered by his earlier break down.

"And then? Soon as I'm better..."

Smiles and reaches over, running a hand over Gabriel's abdomen.

"Didn't bother me."

Looks up, a bit confused.

Shivering, muscles rippling at that touch.

"I want some time, just us. Not the pard. Not Zhilbar and Emma and Cissa collapsing and all of it. Just you and I. And if you feel at yer wit's end then? Only I'm gonna see it.. and we'll get through it."

Nods and lays down, curling up with Gabriel.

"Okay."

Holding Jason tight, smiling, changing the subject subtely.

"If you could have any one thing right now? What would it be?"

"You, me, Lil, Scud, Lee on an a private island. Safe, secluded. Even if just for a few days."

Grinning, stroking Jason's hair once more.

"I can actually make that happen. I take my licks, we figure out what the fuck we're doin about Zsa Zsa and then go? Not like we can't afford it, Pup.'

"Give her a treat for pulling her punch? And I definately want to buy an island."

Groaning, fingers tightening in the sheets.

"Will she do a trick?' Smirking. 'And sounds good. Unless it's yer island and yers alone."

"Yeah, she begs on command. And what's the fun of having an island if you can't share?"
