Smiles at Nathaniel's giggle. "I think he might be. I know Nate is. But they have been away from her a lot longer than you have. It - takes time." Watches him for a moment, thinking. "When I met him, Nate was - a lot quieter, and - was a leopard about half the time. And - I was so much more shy. Uncertain. I couldn't speak without a stutter, and hardly ever laughed. That was only a few months ago."
He nods. "I don't think that sounds like fun. I don't know if it was good or bad for him, though. I didn't know him very well at the time. I liked him, though. He was nice to me when I didn't have many friends, and he accepted me - even when I was a social mess. I - I think - you are probably like him, that way. It's - basic to him. For all the differences between you, there - are things that you both share."
"If you thought you could save the life of someone you cared for by leaving them, would you do it? Or would you stay because they thought they needed you, and watch them die because of it?" His voice is soft, calm. A hypothetical question.
"It isn't leaving if they come back, is it? I hardly ever see Pietro. He - he's even moved into a house that - that I can't visit him in, to try and keep his sister safe. But that doesn't mean he's left Nate and I." He chews at his lip, blushing. "I've - watched - this house, the things that happened inside, a lot. I can promise you that Gabe cares for you - all of you - more than most people realise. I think Jason knows, but then he is Gabe's lover. I am not sure if Gabe knows himself."
'Do you know him as we did? Do? Has your Nate told you what he was like? Anyone?'
Licking his lips, cradling Crown in his hands.
"He was horrid to us. Pimped us out. Made us star in his movies. BUt he kept the true sickos away. And then he left and that was all Raina gave us to."
"I am sorry. Before I met Pietro, I was kind of sheltered. I don't have anything like what you went through - and I think Nate probably has kept the worst of the stories from me. He's protective like that - now."

He cares for you, cares what happens to you, but I promise that right now, he is wanting your safety and happiness, and will do what he can to help bring it to you. That's why he went to bring you here. He risked not just himeslf, but his friends - and his mate - to bring you all to relative safety. He would let you leave, if that's what you wanted, just as he would let you stay. He is giving you the choice. I understand it's less of a choice for some than others, but - he is trying his best."
