Jason is curled up on the bed with Lil, Ella sleeping between them. He slowly pets Lil's hair, careful not to wake her, watching the tears dry on her face. He's lost on how to help her, unable to do more than be there for her.

He listens to the others in the house, Leela and Zane in the other bedroom, Jase and Em playing in the kitchen, Lee packing upstairs. He knows Scud and Gabe are in the garage, even if he can't hear them. Whispers softly to Lil when another nightmare disturbs her sleep, softly tracing her cheek with his fingertips, trying not to wake Ella.

When Scud finally finishes doing whatever they were doing in the garage, he showers and comes in to kneel on the floor by Lil's side of the bed, resting his head against her shoulder for a while.

Jason wakes and looks over the bed at Scud.

"Get up here, she needs the cuddle time."

"Ssh." Scud admonishes, shifting so a little more of his torso rests on the bed and one arm can go around Lil's waist. "Don't wanna roll everyone over. I've read that book, I know how it ends. Y'all fall out."

He's referring to one of the books meant for Lil's sister, which has this verse that repeats over and over: 'there were ten in the bed and the little one said, roll over! Roll over! So they all rolled over, and one fell out...' And a little part at the bottom where a paper wheel sticks out so you can turn it and make the children disappear. ..... Like many children's rhymes, actually a little creepy, but oh well.

He laughs quietly, shifting the baby so she's sleeping on his chest, leaving room for Scud to move Lil over.

"I'm so glad I bought those books."

Scooting Lil over gently, Scud settles into the warm space she'd been occupying and nestles his nose against the back of her neck.

"Thrillrides to the suspenseful end, every one of 'em." He mumbles, lids drooping. "Is Gabe gonna have to sleep on the floor?" There's a sleepy grin in his voice.

He shakes his head, carefully cuddling closer to the duo.

"I left him plenty of room. Just wondering, but will you actually use that apartment Gabe is having made for you in the garage?"

"Probab...ly," he answers, a yawn interrupting the word. "Lots of times I fall asleep on the floor cause beds are too far away."

Jason laughs and closes his eyes.

"Good. Go to sleep."

Quickly follows his own advice.
