He'd ended up going home really late last night, or very early this morning depending on how you looked at it. It was only after stopping to think about it did he realise that being slightly drunk and sixty feet up in the air might not be a good idea.

Once home though, going to bed really wasn't on the top of his list. Instead, he went and curled up on one of the huge leather couches in the theater room and turned on a movie at random. And that was where he woke up the next day. And a check of his watch told him it was just about noon.

After crawling from the couch and cleaning up, Jason made lunch for him and Ella then spent the afternoon spoiling the girl. First it was ice cream with lunch, then going shopping for new toys and clothes, ending with a trip to the baby gym so she could run around and play. Once home, it was dinner, bath and bed for the girl, Jason collapsing on the couch afterwards.

He didn't plan on moving for bit.

Jason nods then kisses Gabe. "I'm sure. I may be a bit clingy for a few days, but I'm fine."

"Besides, they said I could check on her whenever I wanted too."

"How is you can...' Sighing, he didn't want to do this. Clinging tighter, eyes closed. "Do you want to test her?"

"No." He was sure about it, something he felt strongly about. "If something comes up and we have to do it, we will. Otherwise, it doesn't matter."

Nodding. "You're right, it doesn't. Also, what the hell is with Leela? Did she actually think we'd let her keep it?"

"Leela has baby syndrome. Her clock is ticking and she wants a baby. Cosmo says so." Jason nods as well, trying to keep a straight face.

Gabe takes it serious though. "Then let her fuck something with a goddamn pulse and a fucking soul and have one."

"Gabe, it's Leela. She who has to save everyone. Remember who she adopted?"

"I really don't give a fuck. This pard has given too many people the benefit of the doubt and I'm done doing it."

"Hey." He pulls back, poking at Gabe. "Preaching to the choir here."

He nods. "Yeah, I know. You've been saying this for months. I just realized I went too far the other way in trying not to be a monster."

"So we deal, and accept that sometimes you, we, have to be the monster. It's life. You can't completely supress something that's a part of you."

"Yeah. Whatever. I can. Did it for years with my humanity.' Burying his face into the crook of Jason's throat, pushing him back until he's holding him like a teddybear.

Jason doesn't mind, cuddling against Gabe. "That didn't work out very well, remember? Not to mention that the beast is use to being in control."

Nuzzles at Gabe's hair. "Letting it out to play sometimes could be a good thing."

"I just... I don't fucking believe she's dead. She keeps dying and we keep seeing her. So I don't want that child here to draw her."

"I know. It won't happen."

"Are we sure my families safe?"

Jason nods and cuddles Gabe to him. "They're safe, plenty of wards around them. They say Raina won't be able to find her, that there's enough of your family's blood to override hers."

Nodding, hugging Jason tight. "I don't want them hurt.' He doesn't say that them includes the baby.

"They won't be, Gabe." He kisses Gabe deeply, sealing that promise.

"Ever thought about introducing them to Ella?"

Kissing back, wincing at that question. Eyes closed, he rests his forehead against Jason's. "I barely told them about you. They don't even know about the pard, in detail. How do I.. I dont know."

"Don't worry about it then." Threading his fingers through Gabe's hair, kissing his temple. "You can tell them whenever you're ready."

"What do I do if they want to be real grandparents to her? How do I explain all of it? They know bits but..." Confusion in his tones, eyes closed.

"Let them? Do you not realise what a good thing it is for her to have grandparents? They'll willingly take her for two or more weeks and spoil her rotten." He's trying to make light of the situation, smiling a bit.

"As for what to tell them... the truth minus the Nexus element?"

"Jason, they accpeted I was infected. But they never knew the rest. About Raina and Elizabeth and what I did. Now I should show them this group of monsters and shifters we live with, some of whom Ella calls Mommy or Da and have them understand?"

"So, skip over that part. You left the group in St Louis because things weren't good. Now you have a group that's happy together, healing mentally and emotionally. And they dote on your daughter and would do anything for her."

He pauses, then shrugs. "We just keep Zane the younger away from them for a while. A very long while."
