Full Moon: At Gabriel's House

He lays curled up in a tight ball on the rug, head tucked under his tail. Some tiny part of him KNOWS that the others are nearby, but the rest of his mind and body are trapped in his memories. Memories of the nightmares Raina has been sending him, only much more real.

The constant shaking is accompanied by whimpers and the occasional long high pitched whine. A pained howl echoes through the house several times.

She stands in the doorway and watches, quietly worried at first - wondering why the need. Then turns and goes back outside.

Several hours pass before Jason starts to quiet down. Nathaniel keeps watch, listening to the sounds of the hunt going on outside. Finally Jason slips into an uneasy sleep. Nathaniel slips from the couch and nuzzles Jason softly before heading towards the door.

He pads out onto the porch and stops next to Leela, listening to the sounds of the pard running though the forest.

She doesn't look at him, just takes a hand and starts petting him softly.

"If you wanna go play now, I can watch him from here on out. It is full moon you know"

Shakes his head and licks her hand, then slips off into the woods.

Watches him go, smiling, then walks back inside and sits on the floor, watcing Jason.

Pausing at the door. Almost afraid to cross the threshold. Staring at that sleek wolf curled up on the rug. Seemingly peaceful now.

Liquid fur slinking forward, curling up on the edge of the rug. Not touching Jason, just the tip of his muzzle resting on the edge of the carpet fibers.

Lil and Scud slide to a stop on the deck and look inside. Lil starts to head in, but Scud entices her into playing a long game of tag in the yard.

Glancing up, hearing the duo. Knowing he should be with them, playing, showing them how it was done.

But experience was the best teacher, not Gabriel.

Poor choice perhaps, but his head lowered, baleful eyes locked upon his lover's muzzle.

Sits in the corner, trying to relax, still tired from the hunt and the healing earlier. She quietly watches the big cat, and the sleeping wolf.

How lost in his own pain had he been that Gabriel had not scented the lynx, the woman, both blended in his mind now. Head turning slowly, barely looking at her, almost fearful of her reaction to him being there.

Watches him, dull anger and pain in her eyes. Having to hear Jason whimper and cry for hours really, really put her in a dark place. She stands up, looking at the cat and the wolf - turns, and goes out the door, sits on the porch watching the game of tag.

Lowering his head before she could go, muzzle to the ground.

Waiting now. Praying if he believed in a single god.

Turns back and looks at him, stone faced, silent.

I don't understand this, Gabriel. I just/don't/understand it.

Wincing, those words echoing through his mind. Shaking his massive skull, trying to make things make sense. And in the end, he forced something he never should have.

Almost uglier in the reverse, elongating, stretching. Human. Nude. Laying face down on the floor, body sheened in fluids, even his short hair matted.

Not looking at her, unable to raise his head even.

"He fears me, Leela. He won't even look at me. He asked to be punished. If I show weakness, I'm risking us all."

Jason whimpers and stiffens, then relaxes as the nightmare quickly passes.
